To understand why we chose the name, you must first understand the history of the Court Jester.  Court Jesters date back to the Middle Ages (Tudor Era).  They were servants of the court and required to be a messenger for the court and estates, as well as entertainers.  They followed their masters wherever they needed to go.  As messengers for the court, they would travel into dangerous areas to deliver messages for the King.  It is during this period that the term “don’t shoot the messenger” became a stark reality.

Jesters were required to be available to the Court upon short notice.  The Court could call upon the Jester at any time to deliver a message or help the Court.  They were required to work on behalf of the Court, keeping its best interest in mind.  Jesters have fallen victim to a stereotype now a days.  They have been portrayed as dumb, clownish, and physical comedians.  Most Jesters were quite smart, they used their wit as a tool to help diffuse tense situations that the Court found itself in.
